Sixth World Confluence of Humanity, December 2014

Representing YSS at the Sixth World Confluence of Humanity, Power, and Spirituality held in Kolkata on December 27, 2014, Swami Suddhananda Giri shared the platform with distinguished guests representing many fields and religions from all over the world.

Speaking on "Spirituality: A Panacea for Happiness and Values", Swami Suddhananda quoted from Paramahansa Yoganandaji's maiden speech in America in 1920 on The Science of Religion: "The ultimate end which all other ends merely sub-serve is the avoidance of pain and want, and the attainment of permanent Bliss." The rishis of yore found that without inner satisfaction, no amount of external good fortune can bring lasting happiness. They discovered yoga techniques of meditation by which one could directly realize God as sat-chit-ananda: ever existing ever conscious, ever new Bliss.

At the end of the programme, Swamiji presented a copy of the recently released large print edition of Autobiography of a Yogi to Dr. H. P. Kanoria, the founder of SREI Foundation and the prime mover behind this event.
