Swami Suddhanandaji was invited as a Guest-of-Honor at the inauguration of a Science Fair organized by Birla Industrial and Technological Museum. In his address to the audience on January 6, 2015, Swamiji expressed his happiness that the organizers of the fairs had shown a spirit of open-mindedness by inviting people from various walks of life. He said that fostering such an exchange of ideas was very much needed in this current era of globalization where national boundaries are disappearing, and mankind is getting more connected to each other than ever before.
Swamiji requested the students to align themselves with spiritual principles, and said that these days many Management experts are also teaching that success in life is linked to “principle-centred living.”
Alluding to how Gurudeva correlates Vedic truths with modern science, Swamiji spoke of the need to accept both as necessary for the progress of mankind. He quoted India’s great scientist Jagadis Chandra Bose, from Autobiography of a Yogi, “science is neither of the East nor of the West but rather international in its universality, yet India is specially fitted to make great contributions.” Swamiji urged the participants to develop the power of concentration that keeps the “burning Indian imagination” in check, conferring “the power to hold the mind to the pursuit of truth with an infinite patience.”
Swami Suddhananda concluded with appreciation for the Government’s encouragement and support in converting the youth’s “potential creativity into a kinetic manifestation,” through organizing fairs of this kind.
