Mahavatar Babaji Smriti Divas Celebrations (July 2019)

Mahavatar Babaji Smriti Divas is celebrated as a day commemorating the meeting of Babaji with Gurudeva Paramahansa Yoganandaji on July 25. This day was celebrated with special programmes at YSS Dakshineswar Ashram and at the Serampore and Garpar Dhyana Kendras.

At YSS Dakshineswar Ashram, devotees joined the evening programme which included Energization Exercises and arati followed by prayer, cosmic chants, group meditation,a brief satsanga, and pushpanjali. The attendees were served a prasad of halwa.

Similar programmes were conducted at YSS Garpar Centre and 4, Garpar Road as well.

Long before the programme had started, devotees started arriving at the premises of “4, Garpar Road” – Paramahansa  Yoganandaji’s ancestral home – and many of them had to be redirected to the nearby YSS GarparDhyana Kendra situated further ahead at Garpar, and meditate separately. This year, there was a special provision to live stream the commemoration function at 4, Garpar Road for devotees sitting in the mandir at Garpar Dhyana Kendra to enable their participation.

The evening programme began simultaneously at both the places, with attendees being led through the Energization Exercises, chanting, and group meditation.

This was followed by an inspiring satsanga by Swami Nigamananda and Brahmachari Swarupananda which included reading from the Autobiography of a Yogi.  Devotees offered pushpanjali at the altar and then they had an opportunity to pay their homage at Guruji’s attic room at “4, Garpar Road” before receiving prasad. Devotees who had gathered at Garpar Kendra also visited in a group to pay their homage at “4, Garpar Road.”

A large number of devotees enjoyed this special programme, and the opportunity to participate via the audio-video transmission of the event was greatly appreciated by all.
